Sandplay in Switzerland
A Two-Week Training Intensive

June 17 – July 1, 2017

Sandplay in Switzerland 2013

This program was just completed. It is usually held every other year. Join our mailing list to be notified the next time this training is offered. When it is, it will be much like this.

This intensive course offers solid Sandplay training along with complementary experiential work with art and body awareness. It is designed for professional therapists, psychologists, counselors, and educators who use Sandplay in their work and those preparing to do so. Participants study with a special group of European instructors not easily accessible. Each teacher has many years training in the Kalffian theory and practice of Sandplay as well as extensive professional, clinical, and teaching experience.

The program includes in-depth Sandplay case presentations by faculty; small group and individual consultation/supervision; art workshops; and Interior Rhythms, bodysoul work with dreams, movement, creative expression, and ritual. The Black Madonna of Einsiedeln is nearby, and there will be opportunities to visit and explore her meaning.

An optional trip Mt. Rigi, Queen of the Mountains—and a place of importance to C.G. Jung—will also be offered to experience the glory of the Swiss Alps.

The schedule is intensive with sessions every morning and afternoon and some evenings when a variety of DVDs, not otherwise available, will be offered.

The two-week format allows depth work not attainable in short courses. By traveling to Switzerland, we leave behind our everyday responsibilities and immerse ourselves deeply in Sandplay. Being in an international group of colleagues who share this work provides connections and community. (The 2011, 2013, and 2015 groups all represented 8 different countries.) Learning about Sandplay in the environment where it was developed creates a connection to the source. Switzerland itself is beautiful, magical, and enticing.

This course is unique with a long history and positive track record. It began in 1984 with Dora Kalff as lead teacher and has been offered regularly since. It has always been well received by both faculty and participants. It is rich and exciting, and there is nothing else quite like it.

We hope you won’t miss the opportunity to be part of this in 2017.

Pre-Conference Workshop

In the Footsteps of C.G. Jung
An Introduction to Zurich and Switzerland

C.G. Jung Institute, Kusnacht

This workshop offers the opportunity to awaken to the inner and outer landscapes of the psyche. We will settle into Hotel Allegro and explore the region before the intensive rhythms of the Sandplay program begins. We will honor our inner world as well welcoming dreams, symbols, and images that help awaken a relationship to gifts from our own unconscious.

Zurich and nearby Kusnacht and Zollikon are the areas where both Carl Jung and Dora Kalff lived and worked. This is the land where Jungian psychology and Sandplay were born and developed and the atmosphere is rich and palpable. In these first days together we will explore this unique area, see some of the most interesting sites in Zurich, enjoy the natural beauty of the area, and adjust to the time and place.

Dates: June 14-17, 2017

For complete details see Pre-Conference Workshop.

“This was a life-changing experience. It was much more than I expected. I thought I was going to come to a Sandplay training and ends up I came to remember why I do what I do and to remember who I am. I really think this is a gift in my life. Meeting and reconnecting with my soul. Thank you!”
